Tipping, for whatever reason, is a very touchy subject. Any time money is involved, people get uncomfortable. When traveling on vacation as an example, it is important to remember that the people servicing you are NOT on vacation. Rather, that is their way to make a living. They work hard to ensure you receive a great service and are always hopeful that it is recognized.
That said, when it comes to tipping while travel, there are some etiquette guidelines you might want to consider. If you are tipping wait staff, or others at restaurants, you might not be sure how to tip private airport transportation drivers, shuttle drivers or taxi drivers.
Here are some basic thoughts.
Be proactive. When going on a trip, you will want to plan ahead and consider all your stops to the airport and from the airport. Be sure to have the correct amount of money to tip. Truly, there is nothing more awkward than if you have to ask your driver for change. From personal experience, in those cases, I simply just take less of a tip so as to not make the person uncomfortable.
When considering a Panama City Beach airport transportation services, you might wonder what is the appropriate amount to give. Limo drivers or taxi drivers is usually around 10-15%. Private transportation services might be treated a bit differently. There might not be a tip jar out in the open. What you should consider giving would be $5-$10, based on the distance and the interaction and experience. Consider giving $1 per bag, especially if they are heavy.
Some airport services will give you an option in advance when you are scheduling your trip to include the gratuity up front. If that option is available, consider doing that.
At the end of the day, be proactive and have cash on hand. If your driver is friendly, courteous. helpful and makes your experience better, be open to rewarding them. They will appreciate it.
